ANZAC DAY 2014

Firstly we would like to thank everyone who came along and joined in and witness ANZAC DAY.

Culcairn celebrated the 99th Anniversary of ANZAC by the way of marching in groups ranging from the ARMYSoldiers who displayed top performance for the Cataflaque Party at the Memorial Wall followed by the Culcairn RSL Sub-Branch and extended family members, Culcairn Fire Brigade, SES, then we had the great support from the following schools, Culcairn Public, St. Joseph’s Primary, Billabong High, St.Paul’s College from Walla Walla and Xavier High from Albury.

We gathered at the Memorial Wall, where Vice President Ken Gardiner welcomed everyone, and good support was noted when we had all those whomarched plus Culcairn Football and Netball Club, the Lions Club and the members of the local Community all laid wreaths in respect to all those who fought and served our Country. A chilling moment was felt by everyone when the ODE was read and then the playing of the LAST POST, a MINUTE SILENCE followed by the ROUSE then we finished off with singing the NATIONAL ANTHEM.

A short Ceremony Service held inside the TOWN HALL with the Guest Speaker Captain Murch also from Bandiana, a couple of Hymns were sung also we had a collection to be passed into Legacy Group.

After the Service and a couple refreshment drinks a wonderful casserole lunch and beautiful trifles were put on by the Culcairn Ladies Auxiliary with extended help. The Fire Brigade and the SES helped the ladies clean up.
