CULCAIRN MENS’S SHED

During the last 6 months we have had some good things and some unhappy moments. Our President is on a holiday in West Australia and having a wow of a time. Mark Barton (Gus) is working in the Culcairn Post Office and we all hope that he is successful. Sadly we lost Ray Wright and our former President John Thompson lost his mother recently. We have one of Ray’s stained glass items in the shed and it is very much appreciated.

The 2 regular ladies that come to the shed Maggie is our treasurer/bookkeeper and Chris Bowen does the lunches and their input is very important to the men. It also keeps the behaviour in check. Some of our former member don’t know what they are missing.

We have an order for another wishing well (very popular) and with Merv working on a rocking horse, Lindsay on the lathe, plenty is happening and all are in good spirits. Other orders are welcome, mostly made with recycled material. Some of the things we have made include, vegetable boxes, various toys, weathervanes, picture frames etc. Rex made our letterbox out of an old gas bottle. We call it the Culcairn Man.

A lot of work has been done by current and former members to give us a place to meet and do whatever takes our fancy. From what it started as, a bare old unpainted shed to what it is now is more than we could have envisaged. Putting up a fence, painting, workbenches, lean-to shed and many other things tools and equipment are available for all members to use. New members are always welcome or come down for a cuppa and a chat to see if you might like to become involved or just what we do. No pressure

A raffle will be run on the 5th & 6th June. Please support us.
